The Autenri Ring

The Autenri Ring

A collaboration between
The Athenry Foundation for Arts (AFFA) and
jeweller Isis Godfrey-Glynn

In June 2024 AFFA commissioned Irish jeweller Isis Godfrey-Glynn to re-create an Iron Age ring.

*
The ring design is inspired by Iron Age craftsmanship and in particular the Celtic La Tene 50 BCE ring in the Met Museum New York

*
It is an example of the advanced levels of jewellerymaking that were used in Ireland and Western Europe 2000 years ago. The ring motifs are similar to those attributed to the Celtic Nervii tribes of Gaul.

*
Proceeds of the ring sales are shared between the artist and the AFFA foundation. AFFA will use these funds to support archaeological research for the IRONLAND film documentary project.

AFFA is an arts foundation dedicated to furthering Arts & Culture in the West of Ireland and uses its funds to support arts projects and artists in the region.
